Over the past decade NaCoMe has gone through a transformation,
replacing many of the cabins and upgrading some of the facilities.
Most exciting of all, this has enabled its ministry to soar, with the
number of people using the camp dramatically higher than a decade ago.
This is more important than most people realize. In surveys of Presbyterians, 70% report “one particular learning or spiritual growth experience that had great significance” in shaping their Christian life. Half the time that experience came before the age of 17, and the most common setting was at a camp or retreat. For those who became ministers the numbers are even higher. There can be little doubt about the importance of church camps in the lives of all Christians, particularly the youth.

This transformation at NaCoMe has been possible because of people like you. General camp operations are solely funded through the revenues brought in by camper and retreat fees. Camper fees are intentionally held low in order to encourage attendance. However, revenues do not cover large cost shocks to operations. It is only through the generosity of individuals and churches that this transformation has been possible, and we are grateful for your support. It is quite probable you have played an important role is someone’s spiritual development without even knowing it.

There is still much to do at NaCoMe. There are still old cabins and lodges that need to be refurbished or completely replaced as well as other facilities needing equipment and/or upgrades. There is a way for everyone to help, no matter how big or small it may seem! Consider the importance of church camps in spiritual formation, and then give something that makes you feel good (time, service, talent, resource, financial contribution, etc.) The person whose life you help change may even be someone you know.
