FLOOD RECOVERY UPDATE

NaCoMe Flood Recovery Efforts

In May 2010 NaCoMe suffered much damage from a massive flood that no one ever expected to happen and that no one here had ever seen in their lifetime of living in this area. Click Here to see pictures. Many churches and volunteers came from all over to help the camp clean-up and be operational by the time the 2010 Summer Youth Camp Program was to begin only two-weeks away. We offer our greatest gratitude to all those who helped get NaCoMe to the point of being operational through much hard work and some financial assistance, just in time for our campers and large groups to come! THANK YOU! We are very much operating and the flood debris has been all cleaned up. People who have come to camp since the flood have been very impressed of how well the camp looks after so much damage and big messes to clean up.

However....we are not done yet!
Your help is still needed to finish some repairs and rebuilding around the camp. The flood destroyed all of our footbridges that were in place to cross the creeks at key areas around the camp...those crossings no longer exsist and still are not in place for the 2011 season. The swimming dock was destroyed, in which a beach area was made and is a great hit, but the big kids would like something they can jump off of into the water (like a floating dock of some sort perhaps). We are also beginning to see moisture damage within the kitchen area of where the water ran under the building. Until the Rec Hall footbridge is in place the Rec Hall bathrooms will remain non-operational to the groups who come and use that facility.

These large expenses are not covered within NaCoMe's year to year operational budget. NaCoMe's operations are solely funded through its reatreat groups and through the generousity of churches, camp friends, and other user groups. Temporary bridges remain in place at this time. But NaCoMe needs your assistance to help put back and repair what was lost and damaged in the flood. Below is a listing of what the costs are for fixing and rebuilding around the camp. Please prayfully consider lending your camp a hand in putting things back in place. Thank you in advance for helping take care of YOUR camp!
